DECORAH, Iowa – The Augsburg University volleyball team played a pair of matches on the campus of Luther College on Friday evening, riding efficient hitting to sweeps of both Luther College and Northland College.

AUGSBURG 3, LUTHER 0
• After a back-and-forth start to the opening set, Augsburg held a narrow 10-9 advantage. The Auggies took control of the set from that point, winning seven of the next eight points to pull away from the Norse on the way to a 25-17 win.
• Augsburg dominated the second set from the jump, working out to an 8-0 lead and cruising to a 25-10 win. Set three was more of the same with the Auggies leading wire-to-wire and claiming a 25-14 win to complete the sweep.
• Augsburg was incredibly efficient throughout the match, hitting .451 while Luther hit just .171 and holding a 44-26 edge in kills.

Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) was dominant, tallying 13 kills and three digs on a .435 hitting percentage.
Taylor Hoehns (JR, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford HS) was second on the team with seven kills and two digs, hitting an incredible .636.

Elise Uphoff (SO, Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) led the defensive effort with 10 digs and four set assists.
Angel Vo (SR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) and
Jovial King (SO, Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) added 18 and 17 set assists, respectively.
AUGSBURG 3, NORTHLAND 0
• The Auggies were outright dominant in the opening frame, taking the set 25-5. Augsburg remained in the driver's seat in sets two and three, winning 25-13 and 25-12 to complete the sweep.
• As a team, Augsburg hit .330 while holding the Lumberjills to a -.071 hitting percentage. The Auggies finished the match with a 43-10 advantage in kills and a 56-33 edge in digs.
• Van Well came within a single kill of a double-double, finishing with 10 digs and nine kills on a .529 hitting clip.
Lola Pilon (SO, Farmington, Minn./Mounds Park Academy) and
Brier Ziemer (SR, Carver, Minn./Chaska HS) led the team with 11 digs each, with Pilon also adding five kills. King finished with 22 set assists and seven digs.

• Sarina Stortz led the Norse with 11 kills.
