Auggies fall to Green Knights and Pointers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Augsburg University volleyball team competed at the Pointers Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon, falling to both St. Norbert College and UW-Stevens Point in straight sets.

ST. NORBERT 3, AUGSBURG 0
• The Green Nights claimed 25-20, 25-22, and 25-21 wins to take down the Auggies in straight sets. As a team, Augsburg hit .178 while St. Norbert hit .343.
Madison Gully (SR, Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis HS) and Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) led the Auggies with eight kills each, with Gully hitting an impressive .438. Taylor Hoehns (JR, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford HS)
Maggie Lile (SO, Spring Grove, Minn./Spring Grove HS) anchored the back line effort with 12 digs while Jovial King (SO, Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) added a 15-assist, 10-dig double-double, her second of the season.

UW-STEVENS POINT 3, AUGSBURG 0
• The Auggies steadily improved throughout the match, but the Pointers still managed 25-15, 25-19, and 25-23 set wins to complete the sweep.
• Van Well tallied 11 kills on a .294 hitting percentage to lead the Auggie offense. Named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the tournament, GK LeMonds (SR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville SH) was incredibly efficient for Augsburg, finishing with seven kills on just eight attempts for a .875 hitting percentage.
Angel Vo (SR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) nearly logged a double-double with an 18-assist, nine-dig effort in the match.

FOR THE FOES
• Maleigha Kovalske led the Green Knights with 12 kills and nine digs in the opening match.
• UW-Stevens Point's Ashley Kopp finished with a 16-kill, 10-dig double-double.
