WINONA, Minn. -- A sliding goal by
Denise Hamdan (SO, Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul HS) with 7:26 remaining in the second half gave the Augsburg University women's soccer team a 1-1 tie with host Saint Mary's University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Conference contest on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg surrendered a goal in the 18th minute, but tied the game in the 83rd minute on Hamdan's fourth goal of the season.
Jayla Ponce (SR, Kuna, Idaho/Kuna HS) drove down the left wing and put in a centering pass, which
Megan Hensel (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) flicked at the left post through the goal mouth to a sliding Hamdan, who tapped the ball into the net against the right post.
• Saturday's game proved to be a defensive battle, with both teams only registering six shots each. The teams were near-even on possession, and the Cardinals had five corner kicks to Augsburg's two. The Cardinals had three shots on-goal, compared to two for the Auggies -- the goal by Hamdan and a shot by
Grace Dickerson (JR, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS).
