ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Hamline University jumped out to an early advantage that Augsburg University could not overcome, as the Auggies fell 64-45 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Hamline jumped out to a 17-9 lead after one quarter and never trailed after that, leading by as many as 19 points late in the first half. Hamline outrebounded Augsburg by a 43-33 margin and forced 21 Auggie turnovers. The Pipers scored 23 points off of turnovers, while the Auggies scored just nine points off of 11 Hamline miscues.
• Wakinyela Bear (JR, Morrison, Colo./Meskwaki (Iowa) HS) recorded her first collegiate point-rebound double-double, scoring 12 points with a career-high 10 rebounds.
• Lani Fonoti (FY, Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) scored a season-high 12 points, her third double-digit point performance of the season.
• Amira LaDuke (JR, Cass Lake, Minn./Cass Lake-Bena HS) scored eight points with four rebounds and two assists, and Katie Manecke (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) scored five points with four assists and two steals. Maecee Alexander (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) also scored five points.

FOR THE FOES
• Camille Cummings scored 16 points to lead Hamline.
• Marina LaFreniere scored seven points with seven rebounds.
