MINNEAPOLIS – Behind a 24-save effort by goalie
Kayla Simonson (FY, Delano, Minn./Delano HS), the Augsburg University women's hockey team tied a single-season school record with its eighth shutout of the campaign, a 2-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference triumph over Bethel University on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg, ranked No. 8 in both the latest USCHO.com and D-III Hockey News Division III national polls, claimed its eighth shutout of the season in its 14th game, tying a single-season shutout school record set previously in the 2002-03, 2016-17 and 2018-19 seasons. Augsburg has now outscored its opponents by a 54-15 margin.
• Simonson claimed her fourth shutout of the season with her 24 saves in goal. She is now second among MIAC goalies with a 1.01 goals against-average, just behind teammate
Marissa Paaske (JR, Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central HS), who has a 0.99 GAA with four shutouts. Augsburg's single-season record for individual goalie shutouts is six, set by Kristin Johnson in the 2002-03 season.
• The Auggies struck first at the 9:21 mark of the first period, completing a tic-tac-toe passing play, with
Annika Mielke (FY, Waconia, Minn./Waconia HS) taking a pass across the slot by
Emma Brandenburger (FY, Mount Greenwood, Ill./Mother McAuley HS) and putting it home.
Nora Stepan fired a pass from the point to Brandenburger, who gained her first collegiate point with the assist.
• Augsburg added an insurance goal at the 17:11 mark of the second period, wtih
Tenley Stewart (JR, Esko, Minn./Esko HS) scoring on the power play.
Elizabeth Fagerlind (SR, Kasson, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS) slid a pass to
Emma Abrahamson (SO, Carpentersville, Ill./Hampshire HS) in the low slot, and she fired a pass from left to right to a sliding Stewart, who snapped a one-timer to the net for her second goal of the season.
• Augsburg outshot Bethel by a 34-24 margin, including a 29-11 advantage through the first two periods.
Jenna Allen (FY, Minnetonka, Minn./Holy Family Catholic HS) had five shots on-goal, while
Emily Cronkhite (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) and
Aunna Schulte (FY, Bolingbrook, Ill./Plainfield East HS) had four shots each.
FOR THE FOES
• Bethel goalie Anna Hanson had 32 saves.
• Kallie Abrahamson had seven shots on-goal for Bethel.
