Auggie men edged at Macalester

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College men's basketball team used a 10-0 run midway through the second half to take the lead for good, claiming a 67-63 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over visiting Augsburg University on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In a game that featured 11 lead changes and two ties, neither team led by more than eight points in the back-and-forth game. Augsburg held a 51-46 lead with 10:41 left to play, but Macalester went on a 10-0 run over a 2:40 span to take a lead it would not relinquish.
Will Blascziek (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) paced the Auggies, scoring 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field, adding four rebounds.
Andy Stafford (SR, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) scored nine points with five rebounds and four assists, and Elias Batala (SO, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) scored nine points with five rebounds and two assists.
• Mario Adams (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eastview HS) scored eight points, and Keenan Rodriguez (JR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) had a team-best six rebounds.
• Augsburg hit 38.8 percent (26-of-67) from the field in the game, compared to 45.0 percent (27-of-60) for the Scots. The Auggies outrebounded the Scots by a 39-36 margin.

FOR THE FOES
• Ryan Brush led Macalester with 15 points with three assists, while Eric Wentz scored 13 points with seven rebounds.
• JP Kerrigan scored 10 points with 10 rebounds and three assists.
