Scots pull away from Auggies in 4th quarter

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Macalester College used a 25-16 advantage in the fourth quarter to pull away from Augsburg University, en route to a 69-54 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball victory on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Macalester led 44-38 after three quarters, as the Auggies outscored the Scots by a 21-14 margin to cut the advantage to single digits. But Macalester used a 9-0 run to pull ahead by 14-points, 59-45 with 5:38 left, and the Scots eventually pulled away to lead by as many as 19 points.
Lani Fonoti (FY, Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) led the Auggies with a 17-point, four-rebound, two-block performance.
• Amira LaDuke (JR, Cass Lake, Minn./Cass Lake-Bena HS) claimed her third double-double of the season, and second in a three-game span, scoring 11 points with 11 rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block.
Saylor Gallagher (SO, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) scored 13 points with five rebounds, and Katie Manecke (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) scored 10 points with five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Jada Stanford (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had eight rebounds.

FOR THE FOES
• Katherine Norquist led Macalester with a 17-point, 14-rebound double-double, adding five assists and four blocked shots.
• Peyton Starks scored 17 points with eight rebounds and two steals.
