MINNEAPOLIS --
Gunnar Williams (SO, Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central HS) and
Michael Ferrandino (SR, Lisle, Ill./Waterloo West (Iowa) HS) scored power-play goals for Augsburg University to tie the game at 2-2, but a goal in the third period gave St. Olaf College a 3-2 victory in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey series opener on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg surrendered two goals in the opening 4:10 of play, but got a goal back at the 7:08 mark, as Williams scored on a rising blast from the point, with
Landon Parker (SO, East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks HS) and
Parker Jasper (FY, Regina, Saskatchewan/Martin Collegiate HS) assisting.
• Ferrandino scored his fourth goal of the season 2:36 into the second period, 14 seconds into a power play. He scored on a slap shot from the point that deflected off a defender's stick and into the net.
Graham Harris (FY, Minnetonka,Minn./Minnetonka HS) and
Dylan Schneider (SR, Rochester, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) assisted on the goal.
• Augsburg was outshot by a 34-21 margin in the game, including a 30-14 margin in the first two periods.

Carsen Stokes (SO, Prior Lake, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) had 31 saves in goal for the Auggies.
• Ferrandino had three shots on-goal for the Auggies, while also blocking three shots.

FOR THE FOES
• Nicholas Sewecke had a goal and an assist for the Oles. Sewecke scored 45 seconds into the game, with Matthew Pointer scored at the 4:10 mark of the opening frame.
• Connor Kalthoff scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 15:54 mark of the third period.
