Auggies drop 26-7 decision to Cobbers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Taking advantage of four interceptions and outgaining the hosts by a 301-284 margin, Concordia College-Moorhead claimed a 26-7 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football victory over Augsburg University on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Concordia took control of the game early, outgaining Augsburg by a 98-2 margin in the first quarter and a 162-97 margin in the first half, en route to a 13-0 halftime lead. The lead extended to 20-0 after three quarters. The Cobbers held the ball for 18:22 to 11:46 in the first half, eventually holding a possession advantage of 34:39 to 25:46. 
• Augsburg's lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter, four plays after a Joe Zachow (SR, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) interception at the Concordia 19-yard line. Quarterback Caden Rodkewich (JR, New Brighton, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) completed an eight-yard touchdown pass to Ben Davis (JR, New Brighton, Minn./Fridley HS) with 9:55 left to play.
• Rodkewich completed 32-of-54 passes for 261 yards, but was intercepted four times, including one for a 17-yard touchdown by the Cobbers' Kyle Mages in the first quarter, one of Mages' two interceptions in the game.
• Wide receiver Tyrone Wilson (SR, Ellendale, Minn./New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva HS) caught 17 passes for 133 yards, while Davis caught eight passes for 77 yards.
• Running back Ralph Namiah (SO, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) rushed nine times for 34 yards.
• Linebacker RJ Chakolis (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Hopkins HS) led the Auggies with nine tackles (one solo), while Detauwn Player Jr. (SO, Baltimore, Md./Paul Laurence Dunbar HS) and Zachow had eight tackles each. Foster Mulvehill (JR, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) had one sack and two tackles for-loss among his six tackles.

FOR THE FOES
• Jersey Selzer completed 10-of-18 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown for Concordia, a 27-yard scoring pass to Ron Gallegos in the fourth quarter.
• Mason Hughes rushed 16 times for 90 yards and a touchdown, and Nick Walter rushed 10 times for 20 yards and a score.
• JD Cea had 10 tackles and Troy Hansen had two sacks for the Cobber defense.
