NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Outgained by a 494-245 margin, the Augsburg University football team fell 48-17 to host Carleton College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football contest on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Carleton took a 14-0 lead early, then outscored the Auggies 20-0 in the second quarter to take command of the game. The Knights had 494 passing yards in the game, collected 32 first downs to the Auggies' 14, and held a 34:17-to-25:14 advantage in time of possession.

Nathan Wangensteen (SR, Chisholm, Minn./Chisholm HS) connected on a season-long 35-yard field goal late in the first quarter, and
Foster Mulvehill (JR, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) recovered a fumble after a
Jax Bokman (SO, Faribault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy HS) sack and returned it nine yards for a defensive touchdown on the ensuing drive.
• The Auggies scored late in the fourth quarter, as
Jeremiah Moore (JR, Gilbert, Minn./Chandler HS) rushed for a two-yard touchdown. Moore led the Auggies with 58 rushing yards on 17 carries.

Caden Rodkewich (JR, New Brighton, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) completed 14-of-27 passes for 141 yards, with eight receptions for 113 yards by wide receiver

Rashad Sherwood (JR, Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) had a season-high 14 tackles (13 solo), with three tackles for-loss.
RJ Chakolis (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Hopkins HS) had 10 tackles (eight solo).

Griffin Thom (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) had a quarterback sack, and
London Campbell (SO, Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) had an interception.
FOR THE FOES
• Jack Curtis completed 24-of-34 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns, with Jaxon Watson catching seven passes for 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Carleton. Cooper Pollard caught six passes for 132 yards and a score.
• Owen Detmer had 12 tackles (six solo) to lead the Knights' defense.
