MINNEAPOLIS --
Jayla Ponce (SR, Kuna, Idaho/Kuna HS) scored her 15th goal of the season six minutes into the contest, as her Augsburg University women's soccer team clinched a berth in the six-team Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs with a 1-1 tie with St. Olaf College on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Ponce scored for the Auggies just 5:42 into the contest, taking a deep throw-in from
Allison Hookom (SR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) and blasting a left-footed shot from the right side of the 18-yard box to the low left corner of the net.
• The Auggies held their own throughout the game, despite being outshot by a 16-8 margin by the Oles. The Oles also held a 68-to-32-percent possession advantage in the contest.
• St. Olaf tied the game on a rising shot from the top of the 18-yard box in the 63rd minute.
• Ponce had seven of Augsburg's eight shots in the game.

Claire Smothers (SO, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) had a career-best eight saves in goal for Augsburg.

• With the draw, Augsburg clinched its 15th berth in the MIAC postseason playoffs in program history, and its third in a row under head coach
Clara Webby. A win or tie in the Auggies' regular-season finale would clinch them the No. 4 seed and a first-round home MIAC playoff game.
