MINNEAPOLIS -- Outshooting its foes by a 35-23 margin, the No. 2-ranked Augsburg University women's hockey team completed an opening-weekend nonconference sweep No. 9-ranked Adrian College with a 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg scored the first two goals of the game, but the visiting Bulldogs tied the contest with a pair of power-play goals. Ruby Eskin (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Roseville HS) gave the Auggies the lead for good with a goal midway through the third period, assisted by Nora Stepan (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) and Annika Mielke (SO, Waconia, Minn./Waconia HS).
• Ella Olson (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) opened the scoring for the Auggies with a goal 5:13 into the game, assisted by Mielke and Stepan.
• Jenna Allen (SO, Minnetonka, Minn./Holy Family Catholic HS) gave the Auggies a 2-0 lead on a goal 4:27 into the second period, as she got a steal in the Bulldogs' zone and converted it for an unassisted goal, her second goal of the weekend.
• Augsburg outshot Adrian by a 75-44 margin on the weekend, including Saturday's 35-23 advantage. Augsburg entered the wekeend ranked No. 2 in the preseason NCAA Division III national polls by both USCHO.com and D-III Hockey News, while Adrian was ranked No. 9 in both national preseason polls. 
• Kayla Simonson (SO, Delano, Minn./Delano HS) had 21 saves in goal for the Auggies.

FOR THE FOES
• Courtney Ben and Maddy Loe scored power-play goals for Adrian, with Sophia LaColla collecting assists on both markers.
• Adrian goalie Kiera Stack had 32 saves.
