Four Auggies earn MIAC women's soccer awards

MINNEAPOLIS -- Four Augsburg University women's soccer players earned postseason honors from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, it was announced on Tuesday.

Forward Jayla Ponce (SR, Kuna, Idaho/Kuna HS) was named as the MIAC's Offensive Player of the Year, becoming the sixth Auggie to earn conference player of the year honors in program history -- joining Emiy Chapman (defense, 2019), Ashley St. Aubin (offense, 2017), Marie Fitzgerald (offense, 2015), Olivia Muyres (2014) and Astrid Larssen (1996). Ponce was named to the All-MIAC team for the fourth straight year, becoming the third Auggie to earn four All-MIAC honors (Millie Suk, 2002-05; Ashley St. Aubin, 2016-19) and one of 22 MIAC women's soccer players ever to achieve the feat.

Midfielder Lennon Folstad (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) and forward Allison Hookom (SR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) were named to the All-MIAC Honorable Mention squad, and defender Abby Rosebur (SR, South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul HS) was named to the MIAC All-Playoff Team, honoring outstanding performances in the six-team MIAC postseason playoffs.

Jayla PoncePonce again shined as a forward for the Auggies, leading the team with 16 goals and five assists for 37 points -- tied for the MIAC's goal-scoring and points lead, while tied for ninth in assists. Among NCAA Division III players nationally, Ponce is tied for 19th in total goals and tied for 27th in total points. Starting all 19 games and playing 1,464 minutes (77.1 minutes per-game), Ponce had a goal or assist in 11 games, with five multi-goal games, including a four-goal, 10-point effort in Augsburg's 10-0 win over Bethany Lutheran on Sept. 6.

Playing in four seasons as an Auggie after spending her first season at Division II Fort Lewis State (Colo.), Ponce recorded four hat tricks and 12 multi-goal games in her career. In 74 Augsburg career games (5,918 minutes, 80.0 minutes per-game) and 80 overall career games (6,181 minutes, 77.3 minutes per-game), Ponce finished her career with 45 goals and 29 assists for 119 points on 158 shots on-goal, with 19 career game-winning goals and seven penalty kick goals. She finished her career in third place in school history in goals, tied for third in assists and tied for second in total points.

Lennon FolstadFolstad had a solid debut season in the midfield for the Auggies, starting all 16 games she played and recording three goals and three assists for nine points on 10 shots on-goal. She recorded goals or assists in five of her 16 games, including a two-goal effort in the Auggie win over Bethany Lutheran. She played in 1,031 minutes (64.4 minutes per-game) this season.

Allison HookomHookom finished second on the team in scoring in 2025, scoring five goals with three assists for 13 points, with one game-winning goal. She scored a goal in eight of her 19 games played this season. She played in 1,246 minutes (65.6 minutes per-game) this season, a career-high. Hookom played in 73 career games (3,187 minutes, 45.7 minutes per-game), scoring 11 goals with five assists for 27 points on 56 shots on-goal.

Abby RoseburRosebur earned her MIAC All-Playoff Team honors for her strong efforts in Augsburg's two playoff games, a 2-1 win against Macalester on Nov. 3 and a 2-1 loss at St. Catherine on Nov. 6, scoring a goal in the win over Macalester. A key reserve defender for the Auggies, Rosebur appeared in 17 games (757 minutes, 44.5 minutes per-game), scoring two goals with one assist for five points on seven shots on-goal. In her 70 career games (3,322 minutes, 47.5 minutes per-game), Rosebur scored four goals with four assists for 12 points on 18 shots on-goal.

Under third-year head coach Clara Webby, Augsburg finished 10-8-1 overall, 6-4-1 in MIAC play in 2025. Augsburg made its 15th appearance in the MIAC postseason playoffs since 2004, and 11th playoff appearance in the last 13 full seasons.
