Auggie women draw with Saints

MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 2/2-ranked Augsburg University women's hockey team scored a 1-1, overtime tie with the College of St. Scholastica in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series-opener on Friday evening, with the Saints recording a 2-1 win in the shootout to gain the extra conference point.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies outshot the Saints by a 36-21 margin, and scored their lone goal of the game midway through the first period, with Peyton Behr (FY, Luverne, Minn./Luverne HS) netting her second goal of the season, assisted by Abby Simons (SO, Kasson, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS).
• St. Scholastica tied the game at 1-1 with 2:49 remaining in regulation time, scoring a power-play, extra-attacker goal.
• After a scoreless 3-on-3 overtime, St. Scholastica claimed the bonus conference point with a 2-1 win in a four-round shootout. 
• Making her first career start in goal, Lauren Lafferty (FY, Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) had 20 saves for the Auggies.
Nora Stepan (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) had seven shots on-goal for the Auggies, while Emma Abrahamson (JR, Carpentersville, Ill./Hampshire HS), Annika Mielke (SO, Waconia, Minn./Waconia HS), Ella Olson (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS), Ruby Eskin (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Roseville HS) and Molly Grundhoffer (SR, Cleveland, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) recording three shots each.

FOR THE FOES
• Grace Chapman scored from Kendra Royer at the 17:11 mark of the third period for St. Scholastica.
• Makenzie Cole had 35 saves in goal for the Saints.
