First-half run gives Royals win over Auggies

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- A 21-0 scoring run straddling the first and second periods gave the nationally-ranked Bethel University women's basketball team an insurmountable lead over visiting Augsburg University, en route to an 84-44 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference decision on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Ranked No. 20 in the latest D3hoops.com Division III national poll and receiving votes in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division III national poll, Bethel pulled away from the Auggies, claiming a 31-11 halftime lead and expanding the advantage to as many as 40 points in the fourth quarter. The Royals shot 55.0 percent (33-of-60) from the field, compared to 33.3 percent (16-of-48) for the Auggies. Bethel also outrebounded Augsburg by a 41-26 margin.
• Saylor Gallagher (JR, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) led Augsburg with 10 points and three steals.
• Jada Stanford (SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) scored eight points with six rebounds and two steals, and Sydney Hazuga (JR, Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial HS) scored seven points with three rebounds. 
Melanie Delestrez (SR, Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens HS) had a team-best seven rebounds for the Auggies.

FOR THE FOES
• Four Royals scored in double figures, led by Emily Erickson's 17 points.
• Alli Born scored 12 points with six rebounds, five steals and three assists.
