Overtime goal gives Auggies sweep of Blugolds

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- Nora Stepan (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) scored the game-winning goal 41 seconds into overtime, giving the No. 3/3-ranked Augsburg University women's hockey team a 3-2 victory over the No. 11/11-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, completing a nonconference series sweep on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Early in the 3-on-3 overtime, Stepan took a pass from Ruby Eskin (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Roseville HS), maneuvered across the slot and fired a rising shot from the right faceoff dot for her fifth goal of the season and first game-winner. Jenna Allen (SO, Minnetonka, Minn./Holy Family Catholic HS) had the second assist on the goal.
• Augsburg tied the game twice to force overtime. Aunna Schulte (SO, Bolingbrook, Ill./Plainfield East HS) tied the game at 2-2 with a goal at the 13:28 mark of the third period, scoring her fifth goal of the year on a wrister from the left faceoff circle, following tic-tac-toe passes from Tenley Stewart (SR, Esko, Minn./Esko HS) and Emma Brandenburger (SO, Mount Greenwood, Ill./Mother McAuley HS) on a 4-on-3 power play.
Ella Olson (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) tied the game at 1-1 at the 17:46 mark of the second period, tipping home a shot from the point by Stepan for her fourth goal of the year. Payton Behr (FY, Luverne, Minn./Luverne HS) had the second assist.
• Augsburg outshot UW-Eau Claire by a 37-30 margin in the game, with Kayla Simonson (SO, Delano, Minn./Delano HS) recording 28 saves in goal to claim the victory.

FOR THE FOES
• Ava Johansson scored for UW-Eau Claire at the 9:27 mark of the second period, and Kylie Wiltse scored an unassisted goal at the 5:06 mark of the third period.
• Kambelle Freije 34 saves in goal for the Blugolds.
