Auggies drop 74-57 decision at UWRF

RIVER FALLS, Wis. -- The Augsburg University women's basketball team surrendered a 12-0 run in the first quarter and was unable to recover, falling 74-57 in a nonconference contest at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Falcons used a 12-0 run over a 2:17 span, taking a 16-6 lead with 5:25 left in the first quarter. UW-River Falls extended its lead to as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter. 
Jada Stanford (SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) and Tyliah Frazier (FY, Fridley, Minn./Fridley HS) scored 12 points each to lead the Auggies, with Stanford adding five rebounds and two blocked shots.
Lani Fonoti (SO, Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) scored nine points with two rebounds.
• Saylor Gallagher (JR, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) scored seven points with two rebounds and three steals, and Sydney Hazuga (JR, Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial HS) scored seven points with three rebounds.
• The Auggies shot 41.8 percent (23-of-55) from the field, but hit only 21.4 percent (3-of-14) from three-point range. Augsburg was outrebounded by a 37-32 margin in the game. The Falcons scored 19 points on 17 Augsburg turnovers, while the Auggies scored eight points on 11 Falcon miscues.

FOR THE FOES
• Zoey Buchanan scored 16 points, and Savannah Leopold scored 13 points for UW-River Falls.
• Sidney Schmit scored 10 points with seven rebounds.
