MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University women's basketball team built a double-digit lead and held off a St. Olaf College comeback in claiming a 52-46 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg had a balanced attack, with eight different players scoring in the contest. The Auggies used a 14-2 run in the first quarter to build a 12-point lead, 18-6, an advantage built to 14 points just before halftime. The Oles trimmed the lead to four points, 38-34 with 1:18 left in the third quarter, and to two points, at 42-40 with 7:18 left in the game, but the Auggies scored six straight points to expand the advantage, never trailing in the ballgame.

Lani Fonoti (SO, Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS), who scored 12 points with three rebounds and two steals.
Saylor Gallagher (JR, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) also scored in doublefigures, with 10 points, eight rebounds and two steals.

Amira LaDuke (SR, Cass Lake, Minn./Cass Lake-Bena HS) scored nine points with 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Jada Stanford (SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) scored eight points with four rebounds and two steals.
FOR THE FOES
• Elise Hahn scored 16 points with 17 rebounds, three steals and five blocked shots for St. Olaf.
• Joy Brandenstein scored 14 points with two steals.
