MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University women's lacrosse team opened its 2025 season with a 21-5 nonconerence loss to Marian University on Wednesday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Marian scored six of the first seven goals of the game to take a lead it would not relinquish, leading 13-5 at halftime. The Sabres outshot the Auggies by a 39-21 margin in the game. Three of Augsburg's five goals in the contest came on free-position shots.

Emma Meythaler (SR, Golden Valley, Minn./Hopkins HS) had 15 saves in goal for Augsburg, along with a caused turnover.

Alyssa Paul (SO, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) scored two goals, adding two caused turnovers, two ground balls and three draw controls.

Leila Klym (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) scored a goal with three ground balls, four caused turnovers and two draw controls.

Isabella Kohout (JR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) and
Eleanor Flynn (SO, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) also scored goals for the Auggies, with Kohout collecting four draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover. Flynn had two ground balls.

Astrid Clem (FY, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had three caused turnovers, three ground balls and two draw controls.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The game was the first for new Augsburg head coach
Hemie Collier.
FOR THE FOES
• Nicole Stachon scored five goals with three assists, adding three draw controls to lead Marian.
• Izzy Newton scored four goals with an assist and three ground balls.
