NORWALK, Iowa – The Augsburg University baseball team dropped an 11-1 nonconference decision to Simpson College in the opener of a weekend series against the Storm on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies scored their lone run of the game in the second inning.
Adam Marshall (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame, and
Aaron Jones (SO, Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista) drove him home from first on a double to left-center.
• Simpson took advantage of four Augsburg errors to score seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Storm sent 10 batters to the plate in the frame, collecting three hits. Just six of Simpson's 11 runs were earned against three Augsburg pitchers.
• Marshall,
Stanley Regguinti (JR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS),
Andruw Vela (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) and
Nick Hubbard (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) also had base hits for the Auggies.

FOR THE FOES
• Bryson Gibson went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI to lead Simpson.
• Trey Castile had seven strikeouts against two walks in six innings of pitching.
