Baseball falls in doubleheader to #16/14 Gusties

ST. PETER, Minn. -- The Augsburg University baseball team fell in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader to nationally-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday afternoon, losing 12-2 and 13-2.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Gustavus, ranked No. 16 in the American Baseball Coaches Association Division III national poll and No. 14 in the D3baseball.com national poll, had 11 hits, including three home runs, against three Auggie pitchers in the opening game of the doubleheader.
• Stanley Regguinti (JR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) led off the game with a double, moved to third on a single by Jorda Sivoravong (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS), and came home on a groundout by Andruw Vela (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS).
• In the third inning, Nick Hubbard (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) led off with a single, moved to third on a double by Regguinti, and scored on a groundout by Sivoravong.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg was outhit by a 16-5 margin in the second game by the Gusties, who hit four home runs off of two Auggie pitchers.
• Josh Udelhofen (SR, Janesville, Minn./Janesville Craig HS) led off the fifth inning with a single and scored on a single by Tyson LaPoint (SO, Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake HS).
• Regguinti led off the sixth inning with a triple, and scored on a double by Vela.
• Myer Schmitz (SR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had seven strikeouts in 4.2 innings of relief pitching for the Auggies.

FOR THE FOES
• Brayden Kohls hit a home run in each game for Gustavus, going 5-for-7 in the doubleheader four runs scored and six RBI.
• Sam Schneider had a double, triple and home run in the doubleheader, going 3-for-6 with three runs scored and four RBI.
