Auggies fall in doubleheader at St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The Augsburg University baseball team was edged 3-2 in the seventh inning in the opening game of a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at St. Olaf College, then dropped a seven-inning game to the Oles 18-6 in the second game.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
Austin Lang (JR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) had a solid game on the mound for the Auggies, striking out two against three walks and six hits in six innings of work, throwing 62 strikes among his 105 pitches.
• The Auggies scored twice in the fourth inning. Stanley Regguinti (JR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) led off the inning with a single, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and a groundout, then scored on a single by Josh Udelhofen (SR, Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS). Udelhofen then scored on an RBI double by Elijah Stewart (FY, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS).
• St. Olaf tied the game with a two-run bottom of the fourth, then walked off the game with a run in the seventh inning, with a leadoff double, bunt single and a sacrifice fly.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg took a 4-1 lead with a four-run second inning, but St. Olaf pulled away with a five-run second frame and seven-run fourth inning, adding five more runs in its final two at-bats to end the game via the 10-run rule in the seventh inning.
• In the second inning, Stewart hit a one-out double and Nick Hubbard (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) reached base on an infield single, and Stewart scored on an RBI single by Adam Marshall (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS). Regguinti then connected on his first home run of the season, a three-run shot to right center.
• Augsburg scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning, as Keegan O'Connor (SR, Roselle, Ill./James B. Conant HS) scored on on a Regguinti single, and Marshall scored on a bases-loaded walk by 
Andruw Vela (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS).
• Regguinti, Stewart and Marshall had two hits each for the Auggies in the second game.

FOR THE FOES
• Jacob Fickenscher struck out six against two walks in a complete-game victory for St. Olaf in the first game.
• Breckin Hadley went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored in the second game.
