COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- The Augsburg University baseball team dropped a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Saint John's University, edged 2-0 in the opener and falling 13-3 in eight innings in the second game.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

Austin Lang (JR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) had another strong pitching effort for Augsburg in the first game, striking out five against one walk and five hits in six innings, throwing 84 pitches. The effort was his first complete game of the year.

Andruw Vela (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) had three of Augsburg's four hits in the game -- a single in the first inning, a double in the fourth and a single in the sixth.

Nick Hubbard (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) had the other Auggie base hit, a single in the seventh.
• Saint John's scored its runs on a sacrifice fly in the first inning and an RBI double in the third.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg scored the first three runs of the game in the first inning, but Saint John's then scored 13 straight runs, ending the game in the eighth inning via the 10-run rule.

Drew Jenkins (JR, Farmington, Minn./Randolph HS), and scored on a fielder's choice by Vela. Jenkins scored on a fielder's choice by Lang, and Vela scored on a fielder's choice by
Elijah Stewart (FY, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS).
• Jenkins went 3-for-4 in the second game for Augsburg.
FOR THE FOES
• Reed Marquardt went 2-for-3 in the first game for Saint John's, then went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBI and four runs scored in the second game.
• Carter Theisen pitched a complete-game win in the first game, striking out two against two walks on 76 pitches.
