Baseball splits with Pipers to end year

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Stanley Regguinti (JR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) had five hits in six at-bats in the doubleheader, scoring three runs to lead his Augsburg University baseball team in a season-ending Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader split with Hamline University on Saturday afternoon.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg was limited to four hits in the first game, with its lone runs coming on a two-run home run by Elijah Stewart (FY, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) in the seventh inning, plating Josh Udelhofen (SR, Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS), who led off the inning with a single.
• Regguinti had the other two hits for the Auggies in the game, singles in the third and sixth innings. 
• Bethel scored three runs in the third inning and four runs in the fourth inning to break the game open. Three Auggies pitched in the first game -- Austin Lang (JR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS), Vincent Rupp (JR, Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline HS) and Nick Allbee (JR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS).

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the ninth inning of the second game. Regguinti led off the frame with a single, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and wild pitch, and scored on an RBI single by Andruw Vela (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS). Vela also drove in Regguinti on an RBI single in the first inning. 
• The Auggies scored twice in the third frame. Jorda Sivoravong (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) led off the inning with a single, and singles by Regguinti and Drew Jenkins (JR, Farmington, Minn./Randolph HS) loaded the bases. Vela plated Sivoravong on a fielder's choice, and Udelhofen hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Regguinti.
Aaron Jones (SO, Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista HS) hit a one-out single in the fourth inning and came home on an RBI single by Regguinti.
• In the seventh, Jenkins singled, and after a double by Udelhofen moved Jenkins to third, Jenkins scored on a groundout by Gelyn Boling (FY, Chicago, Ill./Brooks College Prep HS).
• Regguinti went 3-for-4 in the game, with Jenkins, Vela, Jones and Sivoravong claiming two hits each.
• Manny Weiss (JR, Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar HS), Myer Schmitz (SR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) and Sean Littmann (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) pitched for the Auggies in the second game.
 
FOR THE FOES
• Grant Peltier went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored in the first game for Hamline.
• Ethan Smith went 4-for-4 with a run scored in the second game.

• Saturday's games were the final collegiate contests for nine seniors -- Littman, Schmitz, Udelhofen, Dylan Adams (SR, Windermere, Fla./Windermere Preparatory School), Jimmy Hemera, Nick Hubbard (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS), Ben Kittleson (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS), Adam Marshall (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) and Keegan O'Connor (SR, Roselle, Il./James B. Conant HS).
