Three Auggies named to NABC Honors Court

MINNEAPOLIS – Three Augsburg University men's basketball student-athletes earned National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court recognition for excellence in academics during the 2024-25 school year, it was announced this week. Earning the honor was Will Blascziek (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS), Julien Hussherr (JR, Strasbourg, Alsace, France/Episcopal Saint Etienne HS) and Noah Loehr (SR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Rosemount HS). Blascziek and Loehr each earned the honor for the second straight year, with Hussherr earning the honor for the first time.

Established in 2007, the NABC Honors Court spotlights outstanding academic achievement by basketball student-athletes with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of each academic year. Student-athletes must be a junior or senior varsity player academically, and have matriculated at least one year at their current NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA institution.

In addition, Augsburg also earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2024-25 school year, its eighth honor in program history, with a team cumulative GPA of 3.00. Nearly 400 programs across all NCAA and NAIA divisions received the award for having a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better during the 2024-25 school year.

Will BlascziekA finance major with a 3.35 grade-point average, Blascziek was named to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoff Team in 2024-25. Starting all 26 games this season, Blascziek averaged 11.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per-game, contributing 38 assists, 31 steals and 18 blocked shots. He hit 43.1 percent (107-of-248) from the field this season, with 43 three-pointers. Playing in 92 games (75 starts) in his Auggie career, Blascziek finished with 897 career points (9.8 per-game) and 320 rebounds (3.5 per-game), with 93 assists, 88 steals and 36 blocked shots. He hit 39.4 percent (315-of-800) from the field, with 140 career three-pointers, 13th in Augsburg program history.

Julien HussherrA business major with a 3.70 GPA, Hussherr played his first two seasons at Illinois Wesleyan University before transferring to Augsburg. Starting 25 of 26 games as the Auggies' point guard, Hussherr averaged 5.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per-game, with a team-leading 67 assists, to go along with 17 steals. He connected on 43.1 percent (56-of-130) from the field, with 17 three-pointers. His 67 assists were tied for 11th-most among MIAC players.

Noah LoehrA sociology major with a 4.00 GPA, Loehr is a three-time Academic All-MIAC honoree and was a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree in 2022-23. Loehr played in 18 games in his senior season, averaging 2.3 points and 1.6 rebounds per-game. In his 56-game career at Augsburg, Loehr scored 101 points (1.8 per-game) with 114 rebounds (2.0 per-game), 24 assists, 16 steals and three blocked shots.

Under 20th-year head coach Aaron Griess, Augsburg finished 12-14 overall and 8-8 in MIAC play in 2024-25, earning a spot in the MIAC playoffs for the 10th time in the last 12 full seasons.
