MINNEAPOLIS --
Walker Gotzinger, who has served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Augsburg University for the past three school years, has been named Interim Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, the athletic department has announced. Gotzinger served since 2022 with Nick Brundy, who resigned from Augsburg earlier this month to take the head strength and conditioning coach position at Macalester College.
"Walker brings great energy to our department, and I'm confident he will be an excellent leader for our strength and conditioning program during this transition," said Augsburg Athletic Director
Amy Cooper. "Walker emphasizes that our habits define our goals, and he instills in athletes the importance of building good habits daily in order to achieve long-term success. I look forward to the positive impact he will make on our student-athletes and our department as a whole."
Gotzinger began his coaching career in 2020 after earning his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science, with minors in sports medicine and coaching, from Minnesota State University-Mankato. He earned his Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential through the National Strength & Conditioning Association in 2021 and became a Certified Sports Nutrition Coach (CSNC) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine in 2023.
In October 2022, he joined the Auggies, where he worked directly with volleyball, baseball, women's wrestling, men's and women's soccer, and women's swimming and diving, while also providing support for hockey, basketball and football. His coaching philosophy emphasizes building a strong foundation for long-term athletic success, bringing a blend of technical expertise, a passion for athlete development, and a commitment to preparing student-athletes for success both in competition and beyond.
A native of Cassville, Wis., Gotzinger currently resides in Plymouth, Minn.
