MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville scored a pair of goals in an 11-minute span midway through the second half, scoring a 2-0 nonconference, season-opening win over host Augsburg University on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg outshot UW-Platteville by a 20-9 margin, including an 11-2 advantage in the first half. Eight of Augsburg's 20 shots were on-frame.
• The Pioneers scored a goal on a loose ball at the top of the six-yard box in the 62nd minute, then scored on a shot from the top left corner of the 18-yard box in the 73rd minute.
• Jayla Ponce (SR, Kuna, Idaho/Kuna HS) had seven shots for the Auggies, incluidng two on-goal. Amalia Lee (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) had five shots, McKenna Nachreiner (JR, Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee HS) had four shots and Lennon Folstad (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) had two shots.
• Claire Smothers (SO, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) had two saves in goal.
