VALLEY CITY, N.D. -- Outgained by a 343-63 margin, the Augsburg University football team suffered a 27-0 nonconference loss at Valley City State University on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Valley City State averaged 4.6 yards per-play on 75 plays for its 343-yard effort, with 235 rushing yards and 108 passing yards. Meanwhile, Augsburg averaged 1.7 yards on 38 offensive plays, with 11 rushing yards and 52 passing yards. The Vikings held the ball for 44:53, compared to 15:07 for the Auggies.

RJ Chakolis (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Hopkins HS) led the Augsburg defense with a 13-tackle (six solo) effort, including 2.5 tackles for-loss.
Foster Mulvehill (JR, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) had eight tackles (four solo).

Caden Rodkewich (JR, New Brighton, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) completed 7-of-19 passes for 52 yards, but was sacked twice.
Michael Lau (SR, Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) caught three passes for 24 yards, andÂ
Ben Davis (JR, New Brighton, Minn./Fridley HS) caught two passes for 19 yards.
FOR THE FOES
• Joey Cave completed 11-of-13 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing 16 times for 75 yards and a touchdown for Valley City State. Devyne Pearson rushed 13 times for 71 yards.
• Gavin Gerhardt and Aiden Russel had four tackles (two solo) each for the Vikings.
