GAME RECAP
The first period began with Augsburg establishing early control, winning the initial faceoff and maintaining pressure on Hamline's defense. Augsburg's Kyler Kleven, a transfer from Division I Niagara (N.Y.), broke through at 11:17, scoring his first goal in an Augsburg sweater with an assist from Cade Stibbe and Nick Catalano, putting the home team ahead. Despite facing multiple penalty situations, Augsburg's defense, backstopped by Alex Timmons, held firm, concluding the period with a 1-0 lead over Hamline. Timmons ended up with 30 saves in the game, as Hamline outshot Augsburg by a 36-32 margin.

Augsburg capitalized early in the second period with a short-handed goal by Peyton Hanson, assisted by Catalano, just 23 seconds into play. Hanson now has 10 goals and 21 points on the season, second-most on the team in both categories. However, Hamline responded with two power-play goals, first by Brock Carls at 13:52 and then Calvin Knight at 9:28, tying the game at 2-2. The period ended with the teams locked in a 2-2 draw, setting up a decisive final period.

Augsburg exerted significant pressure at the start of the third period by winning multiple faceoffs, including three against Will Matzke, and initiating a power play early in the period following a tripping penalty on Hamline's Jack Whitmore Jr. Despite several shot attempts, including efforts by Noah Grolnic and Ryan Comishock, Augsburg was unable to convert during the power play. Throughout the period, the Auggies continued to dominate possession and create scoring opportunities with numerous shots on goal by players such as Kleven and Grant Dardis. However, Hamline's goaltender Cade Chapman consistently thwarted Augsburg's attempts. The period concluded scoreless, leaving the game to end in a draw with a final score of Augsburg 0, Hamline 0.

In the overtime period, Augsburg applied consistent pressure, with key faceoff wins including one by Hanson at 1:25 remaining. Augsburg's defense, led by Dardis, blocked a crucial shot by Hamline's Nicolas Haviar. Augsburg's Gunnar Williams and Zachary Reim each had attempts on goal, but Hamline's goalie, Chapman, made decisive saves. Despite the efforts from both sides, neither Augsburg nor Hamline managed to score in overtime, ending the period in a scoreless draw. The game concluded with the final score unchanged.

In the decisive shootout, Augsburg's Stibbe successfully converted his attempt, matching Hamline's initial goal by Joe Greniuk. However, after Haviar scored for Hamline, Conner Schneider's missed opportunity left Augsburg trailing. Tristen May-Robinson sealed the outcome with a successful attempt against Augsburg's goalie, Timmons, securing the shootout point.
