Auggie women fall 4-1 at Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. — The Augsburg University women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest at Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday. The Auggies were held scoreless in the first half and trailed 3-0 at halftime before scoring once in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Auggies fell behind in the first half as Gustavus scored through Lauren Coy at 9:03, Tessa Zachmann at 20:36 and Taylor Finney at 42:06. The Auggies created chances in response, including saved shots by Georgia Levin and McKenna Nachreiner and a later stretch with three corner kicks between 29:56 and 36:13. Claire Smothers made six saves, but the Auggies went into halftime trailing 3-0.

An "own goal" got the Auggies on the board late in the second half at 88:52, making it 4-1. Earlier, Charlotte Sussman and Kaidin Camp put shots wide or on frame, and Lauren Korioth made three saves after Gustavus extended its lead to 4-0 in the 63rd minute. The Auggies generated late pressure with three corner kicks after the 76th minute, but the Gusties finished with the 4-1 result.

Smothers recorded six saves over 63:30 in goal. Korioth added three saves in 26:30 without allowing a goal. Nachreiner finished with a team-high three shots, all on goal, while Sussman put both of her shots on frame.
