Auggies have 2 placewinners at NCAA regional

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Amelia Hermanson (SO, Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) and Alaina Franco (FY, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) each recorded sixth-place finishes in their weight classes, leading the Augsburg University women's wrestling team in its final competition of the 2025-26 season, the NCAA Region V Regional on Friday and Saturday at Simpson College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Competing for the first time since Dec. 6, Franco finished in sixth place at 160 pounds, going 3-3 with all three of her wins coming by first-period pin, including a 42-second pin in her opening match. Franco finished her first college season at 11-10 with all 11 of her wins coming by pin.
• Hermanson also went 3-3 on the weekend, finishing in sixth place at 110 pounds. She claimed a 10-0, second-period technical fall in the wrestlebacks. She finished 6-14 on the season and is now 13-20 in her college career.
Paige Haaf (SO, St. Croix Falls, Wis./St. Croix Falls HS), a transfer from Wisconsin-Oshkosh, finished her first Auggie campaign at 13-13 at 131 pounds, going 1-2 at the regional with a 31-second pin.
• Gisele Gallegos (SO, South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul HS) went 1-2 with a second-period technical fall at 117 pounds, finishing her sophomore season at 18-13. Gallegos is now 31-23 in her two seasons at Augsburg.
• Hannah Wigern (SO, Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) went 1-2 with a 43-second pin at 145 pounds, finishing her sophomore campaign at 5-9.
