MINNEAPOLIS -- Claiming eight individual Scholar All-Americans, the Augsburg University women's wrestling team finished in 22nd place in the 2025-26 National Wrestling Coaches Association's NCAA academic team race, with a team grade-point average of 3.58333, it was announced recently.
Eight Auggies were named NWCA/NCAA Scholar All-Americans:
•
Katherine Escalante (FY, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS), a social work major with a 3.69 cumulative GPA. Escalante finished 3-11 this season with a pin and technical fall at 117 and 124 pounds.

Alaina Franco (FY, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS), an elementary education major with a 3.66 GPA. Franco finished 11-10 this season, with all 11 wins by pin, competing at 160 pounds.

Fabiola Guerra-Guardado (FY, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS), an exercise science major with a 3.91 GPA. Guerra-Guardado finished 4-15 this season with two pins and a technical fall, competing at 124 and 131 pounds.

Paige Haaf (SO, St. Croix Falls, Wis./St. Croix Falls HS), an elementary education major with a 3.83 GPA. She also earned Scholar All-America honors last year when competing for Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Haaf finished 13-13 this season with nine pins and a technical fall at 131 pounds, and is 18-26 with 14 pins and a technical fall in her collegiate career.

Amelia Hermanson (SO, Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS), a biochemistry major with a 3.65 GPA. Hermanson finished 6-14 this season with a pin and two technical falls at 110, 117 and 124 pounds, and is 13-20 with four pins and two technical falls in her career.

Gloria Ramirez (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS), a psychology major with a 3.75 GPA. Ramirez finished 1-11 this season with a pin at 160 pounds.

Sonia Ramos (FY, Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Central HS), a political science major with a 3.56 GPA. Ramos finished 4-16 this season with a pin and technical fall, competing at 207 pounds.

Katie Whelan (SO, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS), a biology major with a 3.64 GPA. Whelan finished 9-10 this season with four pins and two technical falls at 180 pounds, and is 17-25 in her career with seven pins and two technical falls.
Since the women's wrestling program was established in the 2019-20 season, Augsburg has produced 40 NWCA Scholar All-Americans, and has finished in the top 25 in the team academic rankings five times. Under third-year head coach
Ali Sprenger, Augsburg finished 2-0 in dual meets and eighth in NCAA regional competition this season.
