Opp throws complete game in Auggie split

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University softball team split its second pair of games at the Auggie Dome Games on Saturday, starting with a 6-5 victory over Crown College, before falling to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls 17-0 in five innings.

CROWN GAME RECAP
In the first game against Crown, Augsburg secured the win with a decisive two-run seventh inning, overcoming a one-run deficit to clinch the game. Teron Ormond-Miller led the charge with three hits, including a double, and scored twice. Lola Pilon added two hits, one of which was a double, and registered an RBI. Megan Gissler contributed defensively with six assists and offensively with a hit and an RBI.

Nikolina Opp had a strong effort in the pitching circle, striking out two against two walks in her first collegiate complete game, picking up the victory.

Earlier in the game, Augsburg demonstrated offensive strength in the second inning with a four-run rally. Aleia Johnston and Opp set the stage with a single and a walk, respectively, before a wild pitch moved both into scoring position. Gissler delivered an RBI single, followed by productive outs from Jayden Evenson and Ormond-Miller, capped off by a final RBI single from Pilon, pushing Augsburg ahead 4-1. 

Crown took the lead in the fifth inning with a sequence sparked by a single and a sacrifice bunt, allowing a run to score and giving it a 5-4 advantage. Augsburg responded in the seventh inning with a decisive comeback. Ormond-Miller led off with a single and advanced to third on a double by Pilon. Mckenna Haug then reached on a fielder's choice, driving in Ormond-Miiller to tie the game. Kayla Shaffer followed with a single to bring in Pilon, securing a 6-5 lead for Augsburg.

UW-RIVER FALLS GAME RECAP
In its second game of the day, Augsburg faced a tough opponent in the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and fell 17-0 in five innings. Augsburg managed four hits, but UW-River Falls capitalized on six doubles and a home run to secure the win. 

Zoe Adkins pitched 2 innings, allowing 10 runs on 9 hits. Nikolina Opp came in relief for 3 innings, surrendering 7 runs on 9 hits. Maddalyn Deal made an impact as a pinch hitter, recording one hit in her only at-bat. Jaime Olson contributed offensively with one hit, maintaining a 1.000 OPS. Lola Pilon added a double and finished with one hit, supporting the team at first base. Paityn Pagenkopf stood out defensively with four assists at shortstop.
