CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- With five individual All-Americans, the Augsburg University men's wrestling team recorded its 34th top-three finish in NCAA Division III national competition in school history, placing third at the national championships, held Friday and Saturday.

AUGGIES TAKE THIRD AS A TEAM
• Augsburg finished in third place with 67.5 points, just a half-point behind second-place Wisconsin-La Crosse's 68.0 points. Wartburg (Iowa) won the team national title with 110.0 points, claiming seven All-Americans and two individual national titlists.
• The Auggies finished the tournament with five All-Americans, marking the 33rd time in the last 38 years, and 12th year in a row, that the Auggies have had five or more All-Americans. Augsburg has now earned 291 men's wrestling All-Americans in program history -- 240 in NCAA Division III competition (1983-present), 38 in NAIA competition (1969-1983), and 13 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (no NCAA tournaments held in 2020 and 2021).
• Since becoming an NCAA member in 1983, Augsburg has finished among the top three teams nationally 34 times in 42 national tournaments, with 15 team titles, 12 second-place finishes and seven third-place finishes.

Ethan Winkelman (SO, Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS) finished in third place for the Auggies at 197 pounds,
Brandt Bombard (SR, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) finished fourth at 184,
Matthew Randolph (SO, Jordan, Minn./Jordan HS (Scott West)) finished fifth at 149,
Chance Suddeth (JR, Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton HS) finished eighth at 133, and
Cole Becker (SR, Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) finished eighth at 141.
197 -- Ethan Winkelman (SO, Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS), third place
• Competing in his first national tournament, Winkelman, the No. 5 seed in the field, went 4-1 to capture fifth place at 197 pounds, with a pin and major decision.
• In the semifinals, he was edged 8-7 by eventual national champion Mohammad Talebi of New York University, but rebounded with a pair of victories -- a 7-2 win over No. 8-seed Joseph Petrella of Baldwin Wallace (Ohio), and a 15-3 major decision win over No. 10-seed Gunnar Garriques of Chicago (Ill.) in the third-place match.
• Winkelman finished the 2025-26 campaign with a 33-5 record, with 15 pins, five technical falls and four major decisions. In his two collegiate seasons, he is now 55-7, with 25 pins, nine technical falls and 10 major decisions.

184 -- Brandt Bombard (SR, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS), fourth place
• Bombard earned his second All-American honor in his second national tournament, following up last year's national runner-up finish with a fourth-place finish at 184 pounds, going 4-2 on the weekend with a pin.
• In the wrestlebacks on Saturday, he reached the third-place match with a 5-1 win over No. 7-seed Justin Mayes of New York University and a 5-4 win over No. 4-seed Robert Flege of Wisconsin-La Crosse, avenging a 2-1 loss to Flege in his first tournament of the season on Nov. 15. In the third-place match, No. 6-seed Bombard was edged 8-5 in sudden-victory overtime by No. 3-seed Jamie Evarts of Williams (Mass.).
• He finished 29-6 in his senior campaign, with eight pins, a technical fall and seven major decisions. In his college career, Bombard finished 83-29 with 19 pins, two technical falls and 16 major decisions.

149 -- Matthew Randolph (SO, Jordan, Minn./Jordan HS (Scott West)), fifth place
• Randolph followed up last year's fourth-place national tournament finish with a fifth-place finish at 149 pounds, going 3-2 in the tournament with a pair of major decisions.
• In Saturday's semifinals, he lost 6-5 in an overtime tiebreaker to eventual national champion Cade Siebrecht of Central (Iowa). Earlier this season, Randolph handed Siebrecht his only loss of the season with a 7-4 overtime decision on Nov. 22. He suffered another one-point loss in the consolation semifinals, edged 3-2 by No. 9-seed Maksim Mukhamedaliyev of Chicago (Ill.). But in the fifth-place match, he scored his second victory in the tournament over Nate Fitt of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, winning 6-4.
• Randolph finished his second collegiate season with a 28-4 record, claiming four pins, three technical falls and five major decisions. In his career, he is now 59-8 with eight pins, nine technical falls and 12 major decisions.

133 -- Chance Suddeth (JR, Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton HS), eighth place
• Seeded No. 9, Suddeth finished eighth at 133 pounds, going 2-3 in the tournament with a pair of major decisions.
• He dropped both his matches on Saturday, falling in a 13-3 major decision to No. 6-seed Patrick Mullen of Wartburg (Iowa), then suffering a 9-2 loss to unseeded Wyatt Unser in the seventh-place match.
• A two-time All-American in his third national tournament, Suddeth finished the season with a 25-14 record, with three pins, three technical falls and seven major decisions. In his three collegiate seasons, Suddeth is now 75-32 with 18 pins, 12 technical falls and 17 major decisions.

141 -- Cole Becker (SR, Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS), eighth place
• Unseeded Becker finished his second national tournament with an eighth-place finish at 141 points, going 4-3 on the weekend with a technical fall.
• On Saturday, he suffered a pair of losses in the wrestlebacks, dropping an 8-3 decision to No. 6-seed Pierre Baldwin of Central (Iowa), then suffered a 13-3 major decision loss to No. 5-seed Isaias Torres of Ithaca (N.Y.) in the seventh-place match.
• Becker finished his senior season with a 31-9 record, with three pins, 10 technical falls and four major decisions, and finished 100-24 in his career with 11 pins, 20 technical falls and 26 major decisions.
