MINNEAPOLIS -- Behind an 8-for-8 effort in the doubleheader by
Stanley Regguinti, with four doubles, a triple, six runs scored and five RBI, the Augsburg University baseball team achieved a remarkable doubleheader sweep at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Wednesday at Reynolds Field, winning the first game 19-11 and the second game 16-2, both games lasting seven innings.

GAME 1 RECAP
Augsburg tallied 22 hits, including three doubles and two triples, while capitalizing on seven walks to secure the win. Every batter in the Augsburg lineup had at least one hit and scored at least one run, showcasing a strong offensive effort. The Auggies took an early lead in the first inning, scoring five runs.
Stanley Regguinti doubled to left field, followed by
Jorda Sivoravong's single, which brought Regguinti home on a throwing error.
Andruw Vela was hit by a pitch, and Derek Jenkins walked to load the bases.
Jack Huberty's fielder's choice scored Sivoravong, and Keenan Piggott capped the inning with a three-run homer to center field, leading 5-3 after the first.
Augsburg added two more runs in the second inning, as Regguinti doubled again and advanced to third on a wild pitch before scoring on an error. Another run came from
Ethan Hathaway being hit by a pitch, extending the lead to 7-3. The Auggies surged in the fifth inning, scoring five runs with Regguinti's RBI single and a sacrifice fly by Hathaway, taking a 12-9 lead after five innings. In the sixth, they exploded for seven runs, including a triple from Regguinti and a two-RBI single from Jenkins, leading 19-10 through six innings. The final score was Augsburg 19, Northwestern 11.
Regguinti led the charge at the plate with four runs and five hits, adding two RBIs. He went 5-for-5 at the plate, a career-best hitting effort, and the first five-hit game for an Auggie since Carson Tomony went 5-for-5 in an 11-5 Augsburg win over Saint John's on May 7, 2023.
Kell Piggott collected three hits, including a home run, driving in four runs.
Jack Huberty contributed three hits and three RBIs, while
Drew Jenkins added two hits and three RBIs.
On the mound,
Jake Pittelkow pitched 4 innings, allowing 8 hits and 5 earned runs.
Baxter Heino pitched for 1/3 inning, conceding 4 hits and 4 earned runs, while

In the second game, Augsburg maintained their momentum, winning decisively with a score of 16-2. The Auggies delivered 15 hits, including six doubles and a home run. The game was tied at 1-1 after the third inning when Regguinti doubled to bring home
Derek Tomalak. The Auggies took control in the fourth inning, scoring five runs with notable contributions from Huberty, Piggott, Hathaway, and Vela, leading 6-1.
Augsburg continued to add to their score in the fifth with three more runs, highlighted by Huberty's single that set up
Stuart Hellie's RBI single and Regguinti's two-RBI single, extending their lead to 9-2. In the sixth,
Michael Monson hit a two-run homer, increasing the lead to 11-2. The Auggies capped their scoring with a five-run seventh inning, featuring doubles from Regguinti and Huberty, and benefitting from a passed ball and a wild pitch, leading to a commanding 16-2 victory.
Vincent Rupp pitched 6 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 3 batters, improving his record to 2-3.
Jack McCabe closed the game with 1 scoreless inning. Regguinti led the scoring with three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs. Huberty contributed three hits, two runs, and two RBIs, while
