MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University baseball team split a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader against Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday at Parade Stadium, securing a thrilling 10-8 victory in the first game before falling 7-0 in the second.

GAME 1 RECAP
Augsburg's victory in the first game was highlighted by a six-run fifth inning. The Auggies recorded nine hits and four walks, while the Gusties managed 10 hits and eight walks.
Augsburg capitalized on early offensive momentum, starting with a three-run first inning.
Stanley Regguinti singled to center field and later scored on an RBI single by
Andruw Vela. The Auggies led 3-0 after the first inning and extended their lead to 4-1 in the second with another run from Regguinti, who walked and scored on Vela's RBI single.
Gustavus fought back in the fourth inning, evening the score with three runs, highlighted by Charles Gearen's two-RBI double, making it 4-4. However, Augsburg responded emphatically in the fifth inning with a six-run explosion, including a two-RBI double from
Drew Jenkins, regaining a commanding 10-5 lead. Despite the Gusties adding single runs in the sixth and two in the seventh, Augsburg's early offensive outburst proved decisive.
Austin Lang pitched 4 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 4 hits with 6 walks and 4 strikeouts, throwing a total of 101 pitches.
Manny Weiss followed with 3 innings of relief, giving up 4 earned runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts.
Stanley Regguinti scored three runs and added one hit with two walks.
Jorda Sivoravong contributed with two runs, one hit and one RBI, also being hit by pitch twice.
Andruw Vela finished with two hits and drove in three runs, while
Drew Jenkins recorded three hits and tallied three RBIs, including a double.
GAME 2 RECAP
In the second game, Augsburg University fell to Gustavus in a 7-0 shutout, managing only four hits while the Gusties capitalized with a decisive five-run sixth inning. Augsburg struggled to generate scoring throughout the contest.
Jorda Sivoravong and
Derek Tomalak each recorded singles but could not capitalize on these opportunities.
Gustavus secured a 2-0 lead in the second inning, starting with Simon James doubling to left field, followed by Isaiah Hasz's single bringing in James. Joe Burns then scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. The Gusties extended their lead in the sixth inning with a barrage of runs. Jackson Golberg's single was followed by a double from Charles Gearen, adding another run. Cade Kimmes walked to load the bases, and Dylan Kopesky was hit by a pitch, bringing in another run. Ross Hebel's double cleared the bases, adding three more runs to the tally, concluding the inning with Gustavus leading 7-0.
Jake Pittelkow pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing seven earned runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking four. He threw a total of 107 pitches and was charged with the loss.
Nick Allbee followed with 1 1/3 innings, surrendering two hits and recording one strikeout on 21 pitches.
Nolan Readmond closed out with two innings, yielding just one hit and striking out one.
Andruw Vela drew two walks and contributed defensively with one putout. Tomalak recorded one hit from the catcher position, also catching two base stealers. Readmond provided relief on the mound, pitching two innings and allowing just one hit with one strikeout.
