MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University baseball team split a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader against Hamline University on Thursday at Parade Stadium, securing a 3-1 victory in the first game before falling 7-3 in the second.

GAME 1 RECAP
In the first game, the Auggies scored all three of their runs in the third inning, highlighted by three doubles, while limiting Hamline to just four hits over seven innings. Hamline opened the scoring in the second inning when Jacob Barmore walked and advanced to third on a single and a fielding error, later scoring on a sacrifice fly by Grant Peltier.
Augsburg responded in the third inning.
Ethan Hathaway doubled down the left-field line, followed by
Stanley Regguinti's RBI double to left field, bringing Hathaway home.
Jorda Sivoravong continued the momentum with an RBI double down the right-field line, scoring Regguinti.
Drew Jenkins capped the inning with an RBI single to center field, scoring Sivoravong. The final innings saw solid defense from both teams, with Augsburg maintaining its lead.
Augsburg's pitcher,
Vincent Rupp, delivered a commanding performance on the mound, pitching a complete game over 7 innings. He allowed only four hits and one unearned run while striking out six batters and walking just one. Rupp threw 96 pitches, with 64 of them being strikes, earning his first win of the season and improving his record to 1-2.
Stanley Regguinti contributed offensively with a double and an RBI while also scoring a run.
Ethan Hathaway recorded two hits and a double, and
Drew Jenkins added two hits and an RBI.
GAME 2 RECAP
In the second game, Augsburg fell to Hamline with a final score of 7-3. The Auggies managed six hits and scored three runs but committed four errors, while Hamline recorded 11 hits and capitalized on Augsburg's defensive miscues to seal the victory.
The teams were evenly matched in the opening innings, with both scoring in the first.
Jorda Sivoravong tripled and later scored on a balk, tying the game at 1-1 after the first inning. In the second,
Aaron Jones scored on a sacrifice fly by
Derek Tomalak, keeping it tied at 2-2. Hamline pulled ahead in the fourth with Maddex Van Slooten scoring on a single, moving the score to 3-2. Augsburg's bats went silent in response, and in the sixth, Hamline capitalized on errors to extend its lead to 4-2.
In the eighth inning, Augsburg's
Andruw Vela reached on an error and scored on
Drew Jenkins' RBI single, making it 5-3 in favor of Hamline. However, Augsburg was unable to close the gap further. In the ninth inning, Hamline added two more runs.
On the mound for Augsburg in the second game,
Caleb Tays pitched 2 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits, with no walks and 2 hit batters.
Jack McCabe followed with a 3-inning outing, giving up 1 earned run on 3 hits while striking out 3 batters.
Nick Allbee also pitched for 3 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 3 hits and striking out 4, with 1 walk and 1 hit batter.
Nolan Readmond closed with 1 inning, giving up 1 earned run on 1 hit, striking out 1, and hitting 2 batters.
Sivoravong led the offense with two hits, including a triple, and scored one run.
Stuart Hellie contributed two hits, one of which was a double, adding depth to the lineup. McCabe's 3 innings included three strikeouts while allowing one earned run, and Allbee struck out four batters during his outing.
