Augsburg shut out 1-0 at UW-River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The Augsburg University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 nonconference decision to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Friday at Ramer Field. The Auggies held the Falcons scoreless in the second half and withstood six opponent attacking actions from 82:53 to 88:48 without conceding.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UW-River Falls put Augsburg behind 1-0 at 1:33, when Leah Hultman scored off assists from Emery Bigler and Maddie Finstad. The Auggies pushed for an equalizer midway through the first half, with Lennon Folstad taking a shot before Sierra Swallen and Charlotte Sussman forced saves from Courtney Bain. Claire Smothers made five saves for Augsburg, which went into halftime trailing 1-0.

The Auggies generated their main second-half pressure from 54:49 to 64:44, getting three shots and a corner, with Courtney Bain saving Kaidin Camp attempts at the start and end of the stretch.

Smothers made four saves in the half as the Falcons pushed back, including a stop in the 88th minute during a late sequence with four corners. The teams played a scoreless second half, and Augsburg fell 1-0 to UW-River Falls.

Smothers recorded a season-high nine saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal. Camp led the Auggies with three shots, putting all three on goal. Swallen added two shots, both on frame.
