SUPERIOR, Wis. — The Augsburg University volleyball team had a mixed day at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Stinger Classic on Saturday, first defeating Marian College 3-1, before falling to the host Yellowjackets in four sets.

MARIAN RECAP
In the match against Marian, the Auggies showed resilience after dropping the first set. They finished with a .192 hitting percentage, 10 service aces, and six blocks. The team has now achieved at least 50 digs in two consecutive games and recorded at least 43 kills in two straight matches.
Augsburg opened strong in the first set with early kills from
Ameerah Rogers and
Marley Mitchell, but Marian rallied back, taking advantage of several Auggie errors to claim the set 25-20. In the second set, however, the Auggies surged ahead with a solid start on
Jovial King's serve, eventually taking the set 25-19 led by kills from
Taliah Triggs and Mitchell. The third set saw Augsburg continue their momentum, closing it out 25-18, with contributions from Mitchell and a strong serving run from King. They finished the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set, highlighted by a strong performance from Mitchell, who had 10 kills.

UW-SUPERIOR RECAP
In their second match of the day against UW-Superior, the Auggies faced a tougher challenge. Despite an 11-0 run in the third set to come back from a 20-11 deficit and taking the set 25-23, they ultimately fell in four sets. The first set was tightly contested, with the Auggies coming back to tie it at 24-24, but they could not secure the win, losing 27-25. The second set saw a strong performance from the Yellowjackets, as they capitalized on Augsburg's errors to take it 25-15.
The Auggies demonstrated their tenacity in the third set, fueled by King's serving, which included multiple kills from Triggs and a crucial block by Hamilton and Wynn. However, despite a strong late push in the fourth set, they fell short, losing 25-22.
