Men's Basketball 1/27/01 -- Augsburg 85, Concordia-Moorhead 66

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/27/01) -- Concordia College-Moorhead stumbled out of the gate, let Augsburg College jump to a 25-point halftime lead and ended up losing 85-66 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Concordia's Memorial Auditorium.
Augsburg shot an unbelievable 70 percent (17-for-24) from the field in the first half. The Cobbers could not stop the potent Auggie attack, and could not find the range at their own offensive end. Augsburg's
Travis Hinze did not miss a shot in the first half. He made every shot he threw up which included four 3-pointers and two free throws. He finished with 14 points in the half, and a game-high 20 for the full 40 minutes.
In the second half the Cobbers started to find the range and outscored Augsburg 41-35. However, they could not dig themselves out of the first half hole and had to settle for their sixth conference loss of the season. Concordia was led by Jeff Ubben, who scored 13 points and hauled in six rebounds.
The Cobbers slide back to the .500 mark in conference play at 6-6, and slip to 9-7 overall. Augsburg stops their two-game losing streak and goes to 9-3 in the MIAC and 10-6 overall.
