Men's Basketball 11/27/01 -- Augsburg 69, Crown 46

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. (11/27/01) --
Adam Kotewa (Jr., Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) scored 17 points, one of four Augsburg College players to score in double figures, leading the Auggies to a 69-46 win over host Crown College in a nonconference men's basketball game Tuesday night at the Wild Athletic Center.
Dwayne Starr (So., Richfield, Minn.) and
Nathan Hennessy (So., Savage, Minn.) added 11 points each for the Auggies, who remained unbeaten at 4-0 overall. It is the best start to a season for Augsburg since the 1997-98 season, when the Auggies won their first seven games to start the year. Crown drops to 4-5 overall.
Nick Peters (Jr., St. Peter, Minn./Nicollet HS) had 10 points and four blocked shots for the Auggies, while
Jay Howard (So., Burnsville, Minn.) had eight points.
Rob Collins (So., Richfield, Minn.) contributed seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while Hennessy had seven rebounds to go with his 11 points.

Crown was paced by three players scoring in double figures -- Nathan Lindholm (Sr., Golden Valley, Minn.) scored 14 points and had five rebounds, Tim Banks (Jr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) scored 11 points and had seven rebounds, and Paul Ague (Fr., Waconia, Minn.) had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Augsburg hit 50 percent from the field (15-of-30) to build a 39-26 halftime lead, crusing to the victory. The Auggies shot 41 percent (25-of-61) from the field in the game.
The game was a close one early, but Augsburg pulled away from a 15-15 tie with 14-5 run to take a 29-20 lead. Augsburg never trailed by less than seven points the rest of the way.
Augsburg returns to action on Monday (12/3), hosting Carleton at 7:30 p.m. at Si Melby Hall in the Minnesota Athletic Athletic Conference opener for both teams. The date is a change from previously published schedules. Crown hosts a tournament from Thursday (11/29) to Saturday (12/1).
