Men's Basketball 2/14/01 -- Bethel 77, Augsburg 62
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (2/14/01) -- Brett Repasky (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) scored 22 points and had five asssits and five steals to lead Bethel College to a 77-62 victory over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Bethel's Robertson Center.
Bethel improved to 16-7 overall and 14-5 in MIAC play with the win. Augsburg lost its fourth game in a row to fall to 12-11 overall and 11-8 in MIAC play.
The Royals led 40-31 at halftime, hitting four 3-pointers in the first frame, en route to eight 3-pointers in the contest. Repasky went a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the 3-point arc. Augsburg was limited to just 3-of-19 (15.8 percent) from 3-point range.
Matt Newman (Sr., Lebanon, Ohio/Ashwaubenon, Wis., HS) had 17 points, five assists and five steals for the Royals, while Josh Smith (Jr., Braham, Minn.) had nine points and seven rebounds. John Jacobs (Fr., Wells, Minn./United South Central HS) had eight points and six rebounds.
Tommy Chatman (Sr., Shakopee, Minn./Jordan HS) led the Auggies with 23 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Nick Ivory (Jr., Milwaukee, Wis./Washington HS) scored 11 points.
Travis Hinze (Sr., Janesville, Minn./Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton HS) scored six points and pulled down six rebounds, with four steals.
The two teams, who have already both clinched MIAC postseason playoff berths, close the regular season on Saturday (2/17) at 3 p.m. Augsburg hosts Gustavus Adolphus, while Bethel plays at Concordia-Moorhead.
