MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/22/02) -- Winning nine of the 10 weight classes, including one by fall and two by major decision, Augsburg College cruised to its 25th dual-meet victory in a row, a 32-3 triumph over Minnesota State University-Moorhead on Friday night at MSUM's Alex Nemzek Hall.

It was Augsburg's first dual-meet of the season, while MSU-Moorhead dropped to 2-1.

Greg Brendemuehl (Fr., Medford, Minn.), in his first collegiate dual meet, claimed a first-period pin over Desmond Radunz to pace the Auggies at 125 pounds.

Billy Morgan (So., Elbow Lake, Minn./West Central Area HS) claimed an 8-0, major-decision win over Eric Hageman at 165 pounds, and Joe Moon * (So., Ellendale, Minn./NR-H-E-G HS) scored a 16-4 triumph over Tony Soderberg at 174.

In the only meeting of ranked wrestlers, Augsburg's Ricky Crone * (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.), the top-ranked wrestler in Division III at 184, edged Ryan Kopiasz, ranked eighth in Division II, 9-8.

Augsburg's Jamell Tidwell (So., Burnsville, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy HS), ranked eighth nationally at 141 pounds, scored a 6-0 win over Mitch Jackson, and Mike Flanagan (Sr., St. Paul, Minn./St. Thomas Academy HS), ranked fifth at heavyweight, scored a 5-2 win over Scott DeCamp.

MSU-Moorhead's Nate Hanson, ranked eighth in Division II at 157, scored a 6-3 win over Augsburg's Chris McAlpine (So., Dayton, Minn./Elk River HS).

Augsburg, winners of eight of the last 12 NCAA Division III national titles and the last three straight, is ranked third in the preseason Division III national rankings. The Auggies extended their three-season dual-meet winning streak to 25 with the triumph over the Dragons. Augsburg has also won 71 straight matches against Division III opponents, with a meet against current Division III No. 1-ranked team Wartburg (Iowa) coming up next Wednesday night at Augsburg. Against teams from Divisions II and III, Augsburg is 166-7 since 1989-90 (losing just two matches since 1995-96).

Both teams compete at the Concordia-Moorhead Cobber Open on Saturday (11/23).
