ST. PETER, Minn. (2/16/02) -- The Gustavus Adolphus College men's basketball team ended the regular season with a 76-56 defeat of Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Saturday in St. Peter.

The Gusties forced 28 Augsburg turnovers in avenging an earlier 78-75 loss in Minneapolis.

Gustavus shot 43.8 percent from the floor and dished out 18 assists, while the Auggies fired 40 percent and handed out nine assists. Eric Nelson and Chad Henke led the Gusties with 12 points each while David Newell and Chris TeBrake added nine points. Ten Gusties scored in the game as 15 different players saw action.

Adam Kotewa led the Auggies with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Gustavus (22-3 overall, 17-3 MIAC) will host a semifinal of the MIAC Playoffs on Thursday against the highest remaining seeded team (Bethel, Macalester, St. John's, Carleton). St. Thomas will host the other winner of Tuesday's games.

Augsburg finishes its season at 10-15 overall and 6-14 in the MIAC.
