FORT MYERS, Fla. (3/17/03) --
Joe Haehn (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) hit two home runs and drove in five runs, leading Augsburg College to its first baseball win of the season, an 11-8 triumph over Worcester State University (Mass.) in a Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic game Monday afternoon at Cape Coral Field.
After opening the season winless in its first eight games, the Auggies earned new head coach Douge Schildgen his first Augsburg win, now 1-7-1 overall.
Haehn hit a three-run homer as part of a five-run third inning for the Auggies, while stroking a two-run homer in the sixth. Meanwhile,
Pat Marsh (Sr., Crystal, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) had two singles for the Auggies, while
Collin Nash (Jr., Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) went two-for-three with a two-run double.
Andy Dahl (Jr., Cottonwood, Minn./Lakeview HS) started but gave up three runs in the first inning.
John Golnitz (So., Green Bay, Wis./Preble HS) pitched four innings of relief to earn the win.
Jon Kozitza (Jr., North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) pitched an inning and a third of relief to notch the save.
Augsburg faces Calvin College (Mich.) in a doubleheader on Tuesday (3/18) at 9 a.m. at Terry Park in Fort Myers.
