Wrestling 12/2/06 -- Augsburg at Minnesota State Moorhead Dragon Open
MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/2/06) -- Augsburg College claimed six individual champions, and 23 Auggie wrestlers were placewinners at the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon Open, held on Saturday.
Jeremy Anderson (Jr., Thief River Falls, Minn.), the top-ranked wrestler in the NCAA Division III national rankings at 157 pounds, shared the title in his weight class with teammate
Josh Hansen (Sr., Albert Lea, Minn.). Anderson did not give up a point in his three victories, winning a 15-0 technical fall, 7-0 decision and 8-0 major decision. Hansen recorded a 1:12 pin among his three victories.
At 141,
Quincy Osborn (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) and
Jason Adams (Fr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) shared the title. Osborn had two major-decision victories among his three wins, while Adams recorded a 15-3 major-decision triumph among his three wins. Osborn is currently ranked No. 3 nationally at 141.
At 149,
Jared Evans (Sr., Blue Earth, Minn./Blue Earth Area HS), the No. 4-ranked wrestler nationally, was a co-champion. He won twice on Saturday, with a 3:22 pin and 9-0 major decision.
Robbie Gotreau (Jr., Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS), ranked No. 3 nationally at 174, went 3-0, including a 15-0 technical fall, to claim his weight-class title.
Paul Bjorkstrand (So., Burnsville, Minn.) placed second at 133, as did
Brandon Klukow (So., Albert Lea, Minn.) at 165 and
Kris Krier (Fr., Woodbury, Minn.) at 184 White.
Placing third for Augsburg was

Augsburg hosts Southwest Minnesota State in a dual meet on Tuesday (12/5) at 7 p.m. at Si Melby Hall.
