MESA, Ariz. (3/21/07) -- The Augsburg College baseball team split a doubleheader with the University of Massachusetts-Boston in action at the Greater Phoenix Invitational on Wednesday at Gene Autry Field. UMass.-Boston won the first game 4-3, while Augsburg won the second game 2-1. Augsburg is now 4-8 on the season, while UMass-Boston is 4-4.

Jon-Eric Urseth (So., Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) earned his first collegiate victory in the second game, striking out three while allowing no walks and just four hits in a complete-game effort.
After giving up a run in the first inning, Augsburg scored single runs in the third and sixth innings. In the third, a triple by
Craig Henry (Fr., Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) plated
Jeff Stomberg (Jr., Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS). In the sixth, Henry, who was 3-for-3 in the game, reached base on a single, stole second and came around to score after
Nate Jackson (Sr., Richfield, Minn.) reached on an outfield error.
In the first game, UMass-Boston scored two runs in the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie, and Augsburg could generate only one run in the sixth in its comeback attempt. Starter
