WINONA, Minn. (2/22/08) -- David Gross scored two power-play goals as part of a three-goal second-period outburst, as St. Mary's University held on for a 4-3 victory over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey contest on Friday night at the SMU Ice Arena.

Morgan Shepherd and Mike Glaesmer also scored power-play goals for St. Mary's (9-13-2 overall, 6-9-0 MIAC), which converted 4-of-7 power-play opportunities in the game. Anthony Bohn and Adam Gill had three assists each for the Cardinals.

Mario Mjelleli (FY, Faribault, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS), Jim Jensen (FY, Plymouth, Minn./Osseo HS) and Joel Sauer (FY, Madison, Minn./Memorial HS) scored goals for Augsburg (5-17-2 overall, 3-12-0 MIAC). Ben Bradbury (JR, Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey Collegiate HS) had two assists and Jensen added an assist for a two-point night.

Andrew Kent (JR, Lakeville, Minn.) collected 24 saves in goal for Augsburg, which was outshot by a 28-18 margin in the game. Dan Smith made 15 saves for St. Mary's.

Gross scored twice and Shepherd added a power-play goal, as St. Mary's took a 3-1 lead after two periods. Mjelleli scored from Bradbury at the 13:49 mark for Augsburg's lone goal of the period.

Jensen scored from Bradbury to open the third period at the 1:39 mark, but Glaesmer scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 16:18 mark for the Cardinals. Sauer scored from Jensen and Chris Johnson (SO, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) with 37 seconds left on the power play with an extra skater after pulling the goalie, but the Auggies couldn't tie the game in the final half-minute.

Jensen now has a six-game point streak for Augsburg (three goals, four assists), while Johnson has a five-game point streak (three goals, four assists).

The teams complete their seasons on Saturday (2/23) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena in Minneapolis.
