ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Augsburg College's Jack Christopherson (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) hit a career-long 40 year field goal in the first quarter, but it just wasn't Augsburg's day as the Auggies fell to the No. 15-ranked University of St. Thomas 42-3 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football action on Saturday at UST's O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

After claiming a thrilling 22-20 win at Edor Nelson Field a season ago, the Auggies had five passes intercepted and gave up a fumble in the end zone as the Tommies (7-1 overall, 6-1 MIAC) cruised to the win over the Auggies (4-4 overall, 3-3 MIAC), which saw their three-game winning streak snapped.

Augsburg finished the afternoon with 320 yards of total offense. The Auggies posted 101 rushing yards on 20 attempts, while quarterback Marcus Brumm (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) finished the afternoon completing 22-of-49 passes for 219 yards.

St. Thomas rolled up 25 first downs, 308 rushing yards and 519 total yards. The Tommies were able to beat the Auggies for the 19th time in a row in St. Paul, dating back to a loss in 1970.

Augsburg's Christopherson capped a 13-play, 48-yard drive with his career-long field goal at the 10:00 mark of the first quarter to cut the Tommie advantage to 7-3, but the Tommies scored 35 unanswered points after that to claim the win.

Muneer Al-Hameed (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Minneapolis Washburn HS) caught eight passes for 91 yards, while #Mike Nourie (SR, Nicollet, Minn.) caught eight passes for 88 yards for the Auggies. Marvin Riedewald (FY, Cape Coral, Fla./Ida S. Baker HS) rushed 15 times for 59 yards.

Defensively, Adam Mead (JR, St. Francis, Minn.) and Adam Ebert (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) had eight tackles apiece, while Andrew Bergeson (SR, Red Wing, Minn.) and Dane Bates (JR, White Bear Lake, Minn.) had seven tackles each.

Both teams return to action next Saturday (11/7) at 1 p.m., with Augsburg hosting St. John's at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome and St. Thomas traveling to Arden Hills to take on Bethel University.
