MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Top-ranked 157-pounder Jason Adams (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn.) remained unbeaten at 8-0 on the season with three victories to claim his weight-class title, leading the Augsburg College wrestling team at the Minnesota State University Moorhead Open on Saturday.

Adams opened with a 15-0 technical-fall victory, claimed a 6-4 win in his semifinal match and a 13-11 win over Division I wrestler Vince Salminen of North Dakota State in the championship match in the 157-pound Red division. Adams is ranked No. 1 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national polls at 157.

Adams was one of five champions/co-champions for the Auggies, and one of 18 placewinners among the team's 28 wrestlers competing at the meet. Matthew Bailey (FY, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) and Ryan Seidler (FY, Adams, Wis./Adams-Friendship HS) shared the title in the 141-pound White division, while Jackson Mboma (SO, Maple Grove, Minn.) and Josh Kohler (SO, Monticello, Minn.) shared the title at 174 White.

In Red division brackets, Paul Bjorkstrand (SR, Burnsville, Minn.) placed third at 133. Taking fourth in Red division brackets was Cody Hansen (FY, Albert Lea, Minn.) at 141, Tony Valek (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn./Scott West) at 149, Orlando Ponce (JR, Hialeah, Fla./Hialeah-Miami Lakes HS) at 165 and Andy Witzel (SR, Fulda, Minn.) at heavyweight. Josh Roberts (SO, Grand Forks, N.D./Central HS) placed fifth at 125 Red.

Augsburg, ranked No. 2 in the latest NWCA Division III national poll, returns to action on Tuesday (12/8) at 7 p.m., hosting MSU Moorhead at Si Melby Hall.
